With newer, better and most importantly, cheaper electronic equipment coming on the market, everyone is upgrading to the newest and best on a regular basis. Then there comes the question of what to do with the old equipment that may end up just lying around and eventually being thrown out. Electronics recycling can solve this and many other issues when it comes to what to do with your old cell phones, DVD players and other equipment.

With the environment needing more and more care, the landfills in many areas are becoming over crowded with junk. Many of these items include electronic equipment that may otherwise have been put to better use. Old cell phones that simply have gone out of date may have been donated to an organization that will send them to those that need one but cannot afford one.

Electronics recycling facilities and providers take the old, unused equipment and find new homes for it. If it is in working condition, many will send it on to groups that redistribute it to those in need. There are many people who have a need that that are unable to fill on their own.

There are some providers of this service that will take the old electronics and break them down for usable parts to recondition other equipment for redistribution. Once all the usable parts have been salvaged, the remaining parts are then shredded so when they do end up in a land fill, they take up much less space. By recycling working parts, there is less need for new manufacturing which also assist in pollution control as well, once again helping the Earth.

Many of the electronics recycling programs out there simply require the smaller items to be mailed to a central location. PDAs, cell phones and MP3 players fall into this category. Many major manufacturers and suppliers of electronic equipment participate in some type of recycle program. Their shipping addresses and requirements may be found online with a brief search.

Most of the recyclers do however charge a small fee for the shipping and handling of items to be sent in. This can range anywhere from $5.00 up to $15.00 and more. This allows them to offset the cost of processing and shipping of these items. By going online to the websites, one may find who accepts what items and what the fee is to accomplish this assistance to the environment.
